Influence of compaction energy on pervious concrete properties and vertical porosity distribution

چکیده

Abstract Compaction is a fundamental step in pervious concrete production and affects its mechanical hydraulic properties. In this study, two mixtures were compacted with three different energies, distributed layers. The effects on porosity, strength conductivity evaluated. increase compaction energy resulted proportional reduction porosity. Increases compressive from 17 to 36% observed. However, permeability reduced proportionally, decreases of 0.2 0.4 cm/s. three-layer more homogeneous vertical distribution porosity when compared the two-layer compaction. Although aggregate/cement ratio was most influential parameter, should also be considered mixture design. While increasing enhances concrete, excessive may cause fracture coarse aggregate, reducing performance. Thus, for each an optimum can defined maximize performance concrete.

Predicting the Permeability of Pervious Concrete (Enhanced Porosity Concrete) from Non-Destructive Electrical Measurements

The effectiveness of a pervious concrete pavement to transport water through it depends on the intrinsic permeability of the system. However, this characteristic is usually defined in terms of the porosity of the material. It has been observed that porosity alone is an inadequate indicator of the permeability of pervious concretes, since the permeability depends on pore sizes, geometry and conn...

Porosity, pore size distribution and in situ strength of concrete

In this study, in situ strength of concrete was determined through compression test of cores drilled out from laboratory cast beams. The apparent porosity and pore size distribution of the same concrete were determined through mercury intrusion porosimetry, performed on small-drilled cores. The normal-strength concrete mixes used in the experimental investigation were designed to exhibit a wide...

Experimental Study on Mechanical and Hydrological Properties of Pervious Concrete with Different Water Cement Ratio

The aim of this research was to study the effect of various water-to-cement ratio on the properties of pervious concrete. Tests were carried out to find the optimum water-to-cement ratio that gives a high compressive strength with acceptable permeability. The tests of fresh density, compressive strength at 7days, porosity and water permeability for four mixes of pervious concrete with various w...
